Our
Story

What is End Endo?

End Endo is a QUT graduate documentary on the awareness of the chronic illness and disease Endometriosis. The idea for the doco was brought on by our director Elloise O'Connell's journey once received a diagnosis and how this is affecting her now.

Elloise always had heavy periods and unusual pain. She turned to her GP in Regional NSW who advised heavy periods was normal and prescribed her the contraception pill.

Fast forward 6 months later, and she was crying on the phone to the nurse-on-call after just moving to QLD for uni. She sought help with a new GP who said she might have a relatively unspoken disease called Endometriosis.

Simply put- it is a disease where tissue similar to that in the uterus grows outside of it.

Understanding the definition of the disease was confusing for Elloise, and the only way to diagnose it, is through invasive surgery called a laparoscopy.

The surgery proved she had endometriosis. Realising that any person with a uterus may suffer, due to endometriosis being caused by monthly menstrual bleeding, she realised a voice was needed for Regional Australian women to fight for a diagnosis. This advocation promotes the need for more support and education from our Australian Government.
